Board games to learn skills
Board games are a great opportunity to learn a wide variety of skills
After a week of homeschooling for some and the start of home schooling for others the demand on parents rises constantly!
A new guilt - are my children learning enough? Will they fall behind? How do I get them to sit at a table for a few hours every day and complete the work.
First things first teachers are super heroes but even a teacher may struggle to teach their own child!
So at Shell HQ we want to remind all parents that it is ok to find homeschooling tricky and to tell you that children learn through play!
Allowing your children to play is also allowing them to learn.
Over the next few days we are going to show how a play activity is also a learning activity!
Colin’s Favourite - snakes and ladders! (Colin is very competitive!)
Board games are a great opportunity to learn a wide variety of skills including being able to win and lose with grace, the losing part Colin is not so great at yet but he is learning. You can use a snakes and ladders board to practice simple equations, you are on 4 you roll a roll and what number will you land on, how many do you need to avoid the snake?
A whole game of maths calculations! You can make the board as big or small as you wish!
